ExtremeTech: Sony, Matsushita Developing CE Linux

Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Ltd. (Panasonic) and Sony Corporation on Wednesday said that they would work together to develop a distribution of Linux for consumer-electronics devices.
The fruits of the two companies' labors will be published under the General Public License (GPL). No timetable was given for the development of the Linux OS, nor its publication.
