DSA 1404-1: New gallery2 packages fix privilege escalation

Posted by Bob on: 11/10/2007 08:30 PM [ Print | 0 comment(s) ]

The Debian Security Team published a new security update for Debian GNU/Linux. Here the announcement:

- --------------------------------------------------------------------------
Debian Security Advisory DSA 1404-1 security@debian.org
http://www.debian.org/security/ Thijs Kinkhorst
November 8th, 2007 http://www.debian.org/security/faq
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------

Package : gallery2
Vulnerability : programming error
Problem-Type : remote
Debian-specific: no
CVE ID : CVE-2007-4650

Nicklous Roberts discovered that the Reupload module of Gallery 2, a web
based photo management application, allowed unauthorized users to edit
Gallery's data file.

The oldstable distribution (sarge) does not contain a gallery2 package.
The previous gallery package is not affected by this vulnerability.

For the stable distribution (etch) this problem has been fixed in
version 2.1.2-2.0.etch.1.

For the unstable distribution (sid) this problem has been fixed in
version 2.2.3-1.

We recommend that you upgrade your gallery2 package.

Upgrade Instructions
- --------------------

wget url
will fetch the file for you
dpkg -i file.deb
will install the referenced file.

If you are using the apt-get package manager, use the line for
sources.list as given below:

apt-get update
will update the internal database
apt-get upgrade
will install corrected packages

You may use an automated update by adding the resources from the
footer to the proper configuration.

Debian GNU/Linux 4.0 alias etch
