PCLinuxOnline has posted a HOWTO about downloading Mandrake 9.1 using BitTorrent

Every time a new version of Mandrake Linux is released, the download servers are hit hard by people wanting to get their hands on it. Consequently, download speeds slow to a crawl. That's obviously not good when you're trying to download 3 650MB files.

The best way to avoid the traffic jams is to bypass the http/ftp servers entirely. BitTorrent is a programme that distributes files across a network, allowing people to download parts of the same file from each other. This prevents the bottlenecks associated with having everything centralised onto a single server.
