Sil 3512 - Silicon Image Serial ATA (SATA) controller (5)

This product has been tested on the following operating systems: Debian GNU/Linux,Ark Linux,Yellow Dog Linux and has a average rating of 5

The last rating (4) has been submitted on 2009-04-01 10:24:25 by Anonymous running Debian GNU/Linux:
This is a PCI SATA controller, with 2 SATA connectors (1 internal, one external). You will have to trick in order to compile the driver, included in your kernel's source code (Google is your friend), but this is easy and works fine.

Beware that power saving is not currently well supported for Serial ATA in the standard linux kernel. Some workarounds do exist, but do not expect too much about that.

Anyway, I now have a modern, high speed, hotpluggable interface for mass storage on my 8 years old computer.
