CD/DVD drive fails to work with standard install disks, issues "media not found" errors. The network chipset is not well supported by linux kernel drivers (2.6.27), have to download the Realtek drivers which only compile as a module (therefore you cannot do diskless booting). However, the hardware is very nice.

I was not able to get my Ubuntu 8.10 to recognize the webcam. I worked on it for a couple hours and gave up. Not much support or success found on the web.

EN: Nothing to do under Ubuntu Dapper Drake. 3D acceleration not tested deeply but It worked well too without any modification since install. FR: Tout marche bien sous Ubuntu Dapper Drake. L'acceleration 3D n'a pas ete teste a fond mais semble marcher correctement sans avoir fait la moindre modification depuis l'installation. PL: Wszystko dzieje się dobrze pod Ubuntu Dapper Drake. Mimo acceleracja 3D nie była głęboko sprawdzona, wyglądało na to że tak samo dobrze dzialła bez żadniej modifikacji od momentu instalacji.

SUSE 8.2. Only at start up a small problem of a full-loaded TFT screen (black-white bars). All the rest = ok ! Warning if you have a Windows XP installed ; LEAVE IT there! You can copy easily drivers etc with your KDE browser. Don't install LILO then but Grub (NT files aren't always recognised...)

This system was released in August of 2006 (I think), and uses the new core 2 Duo, and I believe a new Intel chipset. Not surprisingly, there are some problems using it with versions of Linux released before that time. Ubuntu 6.06 will load on the system, and most functions did appear to work. However, the onboard ethernet controller (an intel gbit interface) is not detected. I was able to get the system working with an older PCI ethernet card. I also tried test release Ubuntu 6.10 Knot 3. This correctly found the onboard ethernet card, so I assume the official 6.10 release will be fine when it comes out. Sound and USB worked fine. The DVD drive seems to work, but I had a lot of trouble getting the system to boot from the drive. I usually had to hit F12 to go to the boot menu, then tell it to boot from the DVD, which would always fail at least once. If I tried it multiple times, it would eventually work. This may be a problem with my system, I find it hard to believe this applies to all systems.

The mini SD card can be accessed via the USB cable that comes with the phone. It's not /dev/sda1 like a USB key, but /dev/sda. I'm having a hard time mounting it read/write as a non privileged user, but it should be possible by configuring udev properly. No problem as root. The internal memory of the phone does not show up.

Bult-in Network card on Asus P5B motherboard. Downloaded and installed the r1000 v1.05 driver from the vendor, but the card is not working properly at neither speed 10 or 100 half or full duplex. I have not had the opportunity to test it at speed 1000. The ping times on the local network varies from 0.1 ms to many seconds with a high average. Many packages are lost, so the card is useless in practice.

Works great with Fedora and Nvidia drivers for sound and network. Note, AGP is only 4X Pro. SATA is recognized in latest Fedora Kernel.

This card worked great after I installed some newer drivers. I had some problems with the 6000 series drivers but the 7000 series drivers work great. I had the eVGA brand of this card.

Works fine with CIFS access (Samba). Did not work straight away when trying to mount as NFS filesystem, but this may be due to the fact that I had already declared a CIFS volume (I read somewhere that this may cause problems). I didn't try very hard to get NFS access, as the device only supports NFS 3.0 anyway, which only provides machine authentication. User authentication, as done under CIFS (and NFS 4.0) is preferable.

Works great on my 2.6.26 kernel with drivers (rt2870sta, v1.3.1.0) supplied by the chipset manufacturer. The drivers may require some simple patching, though.
