Sil 3512 - Silicon Image Serial ATA (SATA) controller
Submitted by Anonymous on 2008-02-14 16:10:20 This product has a rating of 4 out of 5 running under Debian GNU/Linux Comments: This is a PCI SATA controller, with 2 SATA connectors (1 internal, one external). You will have to trick in order to compile the driver, included in your kernel's source code (Google is your friend), but this is easy and works fine. Beware that power saving is not currently well supported for Serial ATA in the standard linux kernel. Some workarounds do exist, but do not expect too much about that. Anyway, I now have a modern, high speed, hotpluggable interface for mass storage on my 8 years old computer. |
