Tried with all Linux's. Works on all except RedHat 8.0. Apparently, the sound driver was buggy in RH 8.0 I later read on. Sound works perfectly.

I installed Alsa 0.9.0rc5 rpms from freshrpms.net and i got sound now (desktop sounds ,xmms , etc ) but in games i got only something like music with noise in the midle .
Same in Mandrake 9.0 except that it haves Alsa configured by default and that Gnome desktop sounds are noisy ( Kde sounds fine ) . My conclusion are that via8233A soundchip is not fully suported right now .
