Works out of the box without issues.
It has been operating using the PS/2 connector on an older MSI motherboard for over a year with SuSE Linux 9.0, 9.1, and 9.2 Professional.
On plugging it in the two large buttons automatically worked as Left/Right buttons. It took a little fiddling with X config to get the two smaller buttons working as the Middle button and the Wheel emulation using the trackball.
