Previously I posted in November of 2002 that the Canon S520 was partially working, but printing at about 200% larger than it should on the page.
Since then, someone has released Linux drivers for the newer Canon printers at http://www.turboprinting.de. They aren't free, but I tested the demo version of these drivers and they install/work perfectly with Knoppix 3.2, CUPS, and the S520.
