The camera is mounted as a USB storage device in KDE when plugged in. PTP mode is also supported. Tested with Mandriva 2007.0 and 2007.1 Spring.

Nikon 3200 camera with USB connector. Works fine in kanotix X10 at 1-1-2005. Don't know if can work as a webcam.

modprobe scsi, usb modules, usb-storage. mount the CF storage. You can see all the images shot.

I plugged it into the USB socket of my PC and was immediately recognized. The /etc/fstab was updated automatically and I could mount the device thereafter. Once mounted you can access, from the mount point, the camera's memory card at light's speed, to view and copy all the photos. Test done on SuSE 8.0.
