Huawei E220 - USB HSDPA/UMTS modem (4)

This product has been tested on the following operating systems: Ubuntu Linux and has a average rating of 4

The last rating (4) has been submitted on 2008-11-06 13:08:50 by Anonymous running Ubuntu Linux:
May be problem with configuration, but it was not working very well.

I tried both KNetworkManager and wvdial. I would say there were slightly more problems with wvdial.

Problems: Sometimes modem hanged up. I should better say it was wvdial who hanged up, as modem sometimes indicated it is connected by blue light on. Restarting wvdial was not enough, but restarting modem usually helped, sometimes it was necessary to restart 2 or 3 times. (It has never happened under WinXP, but I was using it most of the time under GNU/Linux, so it might be a chance.)

SmartAX MT800u-T ADSL Router (5)

This product has been tested on the following operating systems: SUSE Linux,Ark Linux and has a average rating of 5

The last rating (5) has been submitted on 2008-07-29 18:34:57 by Anonymous running SUSE Linux:
It works well under SUSE 10.0. If you setup dsl via an ethernet card - as in this case -, don't use the Yast dsl module! If your ISP needs authentication, don't use the default internet applet under gnome. Use this program, it works well: http://www.roaringpenguin.com/penguin/pppoe
(rp-pppoe)

Just install your ethernet card and choose an address as mentioned in the router setup guide. Using default settings, you don't even need to access the web-based setup of the router.

Huawei EC321 CDMA Modem (PCCARD) (4)

This product has been tested on the following operating systems: Ubuntu Linux and has a average rating of 4

The last rating (5) has been submitted on 2008-01-25 10:56:20 by Anonymous running Ubuntu Linux:
Search for "Huawei EC321" in google images to find a lot of photos about it.

This is the "default" CDMA modem card from China Unicom, the biggest ICP of CDMA connection, thus it is widely used in China.

Use it as any other modem, it do not require any other special configuration. However I don't know how to use this device to send/receive SMS and make mobile telephone calls (it is supposed to be able to do both). Since SMS & mobile phone call are not core function of CDMA modem, I'd just suppose it's usable.

Here is a Chinese explanation and guide on how to use it, with screenshot.
