This product has been tested on the following operating systems: Fedora Core and has a average rating of 4

The last rating (4) has been submitted on 2007-04-10 09:42:41 by Anonymous running Fedora Core:
First boot after the installation was slow since the default 2.6.18.x kernel detected the SATA DVD Drive as a SATA Hard Drive. As a result, it continued to poll the device for information before it finally gave up. Running yum and updating the packages updates the system to a 2.6.20.x kernel which resolves this problem.

Some minor issues with the ATI video card. The default xorg drivers work okay for 2D apps. Using the proprietary ATI drivers to get 3D functionality is a little painful. To get Compiz/Beryl running requires several modifications to the xorg.conf file, and it's not always guaranteed to work.

Other than that, system is solid and works great.

Problems that remain:
-Headphone output has slight interference noises (in Windows too, though - it's purely a hardware issue)
-Sleep mode doesn't work (but software suspend - hibernate - does, with the proper config, and loss of hardware graphics acceleration)
-not-so-great battery life (~2.5 hours)

I got the Intel 2200BG wireless and the ATI Radeon Mobility X300 video. The former in particular is highly recommended, and works almost out-of-the box.

It recognizes the card but can't use it. There may be an easy fix to get this running, but I'm no programmer, and I don't mind not having sound.
