SUSE 8.2. Only at start up a small problem of a full-loaded TFT screen (black-white bars). All the rest = ok ! Warning if you have a Windows XP installed ; LEAVE IT there! You can copy easily drivers etc with your KDE browser. Don't install LILO then but Grub (NT files aren't always recognised...)

This is an older Intel Celeron 700MHz notebook. There are various issues with Fedora Core 3 and 4 running on this notebook. Fedora Core 3: Xorg freeze from time to time during initialization. Sound is not working Fedora Core 4: Installation with Anaconda is not possible. Anaconda hangs immediately in graphical mode. A text install fails also.

I've tried the Acer Ferrari 3000 under Linux SuSE 9.1 and Ubuntu Warty and Hoary, and it worked well. I can warn you from Red Hat's previous versions (haven't tried the latest). Anyway Ferrari 3000 is a good computer, even though it gets a bit hot.

I had no problem at all running the Ubuntu distro on my Acer Travelmate. Even Wireless was working almost immediately. I had a small issue with a Benq USB mouse.

Winmodem still not working. I've used Mandrake 9.2 on the same laptop but MDK refused to work properly with the external keboard which is a native PS/2 bu connected to the laptop using a PS/2-USB converter as the laptop do not have a PS/2 port. Fedora just automatically configure it for me without any problem.

Knoppix OK. SuSE 9.0 x86_64 installed and works well. Can't find a 64-bit winmodem package to date. PCMCIA modem works. Great laptop, installation was a nobrainer and its fast.

I have a acer 800lci centrino 1.3 laptop, put a gentoo 1.4 on it, everything works except wireless. Cache (1Mb!) and Nifty power saving options are accessable through the unstable 2.5.67 kernel, but then there is no laptop. Even without the cache it runs very well actually.

I am using Gentoo Linux (great for laptops), but other distributions will probably do fine too. Dual boot works also (resize using the recovery CD-set). Kernel is 2.4.19-gentoo.
