For temperature/fan monitoring support in lm_sensors you have to install the abituguru DKMS module. The IP1000A onboard NIC has no kernel support, but GPL'ed drivers are available on the vendor's homepage. Tested on Mandriva Linux 2007.0 with distribution kernel 2.6.17.

Works great with no issues on the 2.4 or 2.6 kernel. I ran several different distributions on this board without any problems.

Works. But this board has serous stability problems (poor quality, hardware/software bugs ?). I will NEVER consider this for any casual or serious use.

Works fine with SuSE 9.2; Fedora Core 3. Just rememmber the board does not come with integrated video, so you need to buy a compatible video card. The sound is just standard stereo. I have not used the network yet so I cannot comment on that but it is recognized.

Just use the nVidia driver. net/sound seems work, i can't test the 5.1 sound due to lack of sound hardware. SerialAta/ i2c smBus can't be check now, no driver found. Usb is ok.

Works beautifully with kernel 2.6.9 on Gentoo (specifically 2.6.9-r1 gentoo-dev-sources). However, there is MAJOR problems with via_velocity (the network card) on =< 2.6.8.1.

Everything works great, except if you use Intel SATA RAID (ICH5R). The kernel does not have software RAID drivers. You can install libata and the iswraid patch for kernel 2.4, but you have to resolve a loading order: iswraid(IDE driver) needs libata(SCSI driver) wich is loaded after IDE. Kernel 2.6 has SATA support, but still looking for RAID.

Knoppix and Mandrake 10.0 detected all the hardware. Knoppix worked falwlessly.
Mandrake 10.0 had a lot of problems with the APIC. To prevent installer and boot from hanging you need to load it:
linux noapic nolapic

SATA works great.
USB mouse and keyboard works only in graphic mode.

The VIA VT8237 SATA chip isn't supported under any distros that i know of (except maybe mandrake). It will probably work with normal IDE support, but that would sort of defeat the purpose of the motherboard.

Apparently there are patches available HERE, but I have yet to test them.

The HPT372-controller is a pain in the ass, since its not supported by kernel. To get it to work you have to edit some sources for the kernel (to remove the detection of the controller) and then build separate drivers... and they're behaving very strange.
